Grandma Skydives

Judy Wade didn't want her birthday to be boring.

The 82-year-old grandma decided to go skydiving to celebrate her big day.

She was accompanied by her grandson, New York Daily News staff writer, Joe Kemp.

"It wasn't a big surprise to me when my grandmother, Judy Wade, called to say she wanted to celebrate her 82nd birthday by jumping out of an airplane," Kemp writes.

He notes that Wade took him on his first motorcycle ride when he was just 6-years-old.

Wade isn't the only senior with an unrelenting desire for thrills. Back in 2009, former President George H.W. Bush jumped out of a plane to mark his 85th birthday.

Wade is also not the only grandma who enjoys generation-x activities. Just take a look at this 99-year-old woman who loves playing Nintendo.

But Wade's feat is impressive in its own right. WATCH the jump below:

Wow! Now this is what we’re talking about! At Jensen Communities, we encourage our neighbors to get out and explore new adventures, no matter what their age is. Judy, you ARE a living example of this. We’ll definitely be sharing this great video with our community on our blog, Get in on the Good Life (http://blog.getinonthegoodlife.com/). Thanks for being such an inspiration for all of us!

The only scary moment was when she was nearly struck by Obama's approval numbers as they passed her on the way down.

Good for her! Maybe she'll catch up to my Mom-in-law who skydived in SoCA at 83, parasailed in Florida, and rode an ultalight over an Adirondack lake. I want to be like those ladies when I grow up!

Good for her.

But I heard she lost her teeth around the 5,000 feet mark.

So she landed safely on the ground and her teeth landed in the next county over.

I took the three day course and on the fourth day we were airborne.
The instructor said prior to jumping, “You will go out on a static line which will open your chute. If for some reason that doesn’t happen pull your emergency cord and you will glide down and Jose will be there to pick you up.
I jumped and waited for the parachute to open, it didn’t. I yanked on the emergency cord and still the parachute didn’t open. While falling I thought, “I’ll bet Jose will not be there to pick me up.”

That's Nothing! I've known some 80 + yearlold grandmas who have had a more harrowing, hair raising experience trying to get ON a plane. Getting out of one is the easy part!

"The 82-year-old grandma decided to go skydiving to celebrate her big day."

Good for you!! There are two types of people in the world......Those who have exited the aircraft and those who haven't.
