WINDHAM, N.H. -- A New Hampshire school bus driver is facing drunken driving charges after police say she struck a mailbox with her bus while transporting middle school students.

No one was hurt.

Police in Windham say they received several calls about a bus driving erratically on Monday morning. They eventually found the bus in the parking lot at Windham Middle School.

Police say the driver, 50-year-old Kimberly Hooley, failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence. She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 14. She refused to comment when contacted by The Eagle-Tribune.

Hooley denied drinking but told police she had taken prescription medication.

She has been placed on leave by the bus company pending an investigation into the incident.

Conveniently omitted from this "report" was the fact that she passed a breathalyzer test, and was then subjected to the "field sobriety test", totally subjective by the police...can you say the alphabet backwards??..know all the presidents in order??....guess you're drunk too!...she stopped to exchange info with the mailbox owner...said she had not been drinking but had just take prescription medication....was she under the influence of the medication? probably..should she have been driving a school bus in that condition? definitely not....but was she "drunk"??..doubtful, but it does make for a sensational headline...
