Shared Hope International Releases America's Child Sex Trafficking Report Card (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/02/11 08:33 AM ET Updated: 12/02/11 08:34 AM ET

When it comes to child sex trafficking laws, America is earning a failing grade.

Shared Hope International, an organization seeking to put an end to the underage sex trade, awarded zero A's in its most recent report card assessing states and their child sex trafficking laws, the Associated Press reports.

Only four states -- Illinois, Missouri, Texas, and Washington -- earned B grades, while 26 states received failing marks.

"I'ts not say you did bad, because the law was built over tens and hundreds of years in these states," said Linda Pope, president of Shared Hope International. "But to say if you want to have a strong place for children to be safe, then pass these laws."

Okay, so America didn't do so well. Let's compare it to China's Grade, or Belize, or the Philippines, or for that matter any other country on the planet. Yeah that right the article doesn't want to go there because they know that every other country in the world is doing worse, in this area. The article tries to ignore that fact. When people think about the child sex trade they don't think, "Hey let's vaca in the USA." Do they? NO THEY DON'T , They think Thailand, Afghanistan, or Germany.

Turn it over to Holder, he will quadruple the volume over night, like he did with Fa st and Fur ious.

I find it pathetic that celebrity gossip gets hundreds of comments, selling kids get 36. Do we really care more about what is going on with celebrities? Sad.

Lisa Ling just did a special on this. You would not believe what goes on just 6 blocks from the white house. It didn't look like a whole lot was being done about it either. Boys as young as 6 being sold. Girls the average age is 12. The scummy men out there that keep this business profitable should be shot in the head. It's disgusting.

In all seriousness, why not the death penalty for the crimes of kidnapping and for anyone complicit (pimps, etc.) with -and- for mature adults who have sex with children? They might be able to tie-up the courts for a time while on death row, but they will be permanently out of society while waiting for their end. Additionally, serious consequences might scare some other pedophiles into keeping their disgusting disorder (which is a form of violent torture, attempted murder and murder) from perpetrating on others. I think we should have a zero-tolerance for these crimes.

There are about 6 states that will not pass laws that demand minimum sentences because it takes the JUDGES sentence ruling out of the equation. Vermont is at the top. Think of these states as pedophile sanctuary states.

i believe most of these urgesfor young children, have been passed thru the ages. the problem , seems to have been increased, many many fold, due to the privacy, of ones domain. or space, with an instrument, that accesses the internet! many fear no repercussian , or risk , to indulge thier personal desires into the world of internet child porn ! which is very accessable on many many pages, chats and fronts. due to this vast accessable internet, the creation of new child porn purveyors , will increase on an hour to hour , day to day basis , thanx for ur attention J. D.

What if we just trafficked the Kardashians? Is that ok?

The older ones? Just send them to Aruba and hope for the best...

Sex trafficers are one of the worst of all criminals. However, as long as there is a demand, there will be a supply. Thus, in my opinion, those who demand are just as evil as those who supply.

The real problem lies within the law and lawyers. Justice is never done. I am aware that there aren't enough jail cells to incarcerate all of these criminals. We should allow the mothers and fathers of these victims to have at least one shot at the convicted criminal. Let's say, from about 20ft. with a 12 gauge shot gun. This would not only cure the particular problem, it would also save on the cost of supporting the criminal in the justice system for umpteen years.

If it seems kind of harsh, well, that's just me. An old Jarhead, and also a grandpa.

I completely agree that the demand is as wicked as the supply and our justice system doesn't do enough to dissuade through consequences this set of criminals.
07:33 PM on 12/02/2011
Although they over use the name, I contend that we no longer have a "Justice System" We have a "legal system" it quit having anything to do with JUSTICE about 40 or 50 years ago.
07:36 PM on 12/02/2011
I like your idea. Its clear we no longer have a 'Justice System" its just a 'Legal System" that is designed for lawers to get rich. It has not had a thing to do with JUSTICE for about 40 or 50 years!

This is how prohibition affects innocent people. As long as we look the other way and pretend it doesn't happen, sex-workers will be taken advantage of and children will be abused. Women(adult) and men should be able to make a choice to sell themselves. Legalize and regulate.
05:27 PM on 12/02/2011
Prostitution is intimately connected to white slavery, child forced prostitution, kidnapping and abduction, drug distribution, murder, adultery, STD's, theft and organized crime syndicates. Prostitution is a choice that affects us all.

The scope of these things can not be satisfactorily controlled with the law's attempt to regulate them by ban. Permissive laws will not increase the law's ability to regulate. Prostitution is incomparable to alcohol based on their inherent nature of associations.

Sane people want to make their environment a safer world, not a more dangerous one. Your supposition is utterly preposterous with the goal of safety in mind!

theknulpkram: Obviously you missed the point. This is about UNDERAGE sex workers and legalizing adult prostitution is not going to have an effect on those with pedophilic appetites. We want to keep underage people from being exploited. If anything legalization would make things worse. What we would be carding prostitutes that could use Fake I.D. like kids use know to get in bars? Are you kidding. Insane idea.

Ditto- But what happens when it's LEGALIZED as it is In other Cuntires?
Then What Happens?
And what happens when MJ is Legalized? Then what happens?

- We need Less Police and have to Lay off Thousands of them, for not needing them anymore
-The DEA has to lay off Thousands = More Unemployed
-The Prisons and justice System have to Lay off Thousands = More Unemployed

-The Prisons only have Real Criminals In them-Not some Hippie that tried selling $100 worth of MJ ..

-And we have 75% Less Mexican Drug Cartels ...

God Forbid to Legalize things.. Remember Prohibiton on Booze? And how that worked out? It created The Al Capone's of the World and the Major Crime Families we Still Have in our Country..
