Cat Shot With Arrow: 'Cupid' Expected To Make Full Recovery (VIDEO)

You can shoot an arrow through a cat, but it's still going to land on its feet.

A stray orange tabby in Houston earned the nickname 'Cupid' this week after he survived a piercing shoulder to shoulder wound, KHOU reports.

The 2-year-old feline managed to elude neighborhood residents for about three days before being captured by a member of BARC -- the city rescue group -- and taken to the Brittmore Animal Hospital.

Dr. Amanda Taylor took x-rays and determined that there was no 'paws for concern' before surgically removing the weapon.

"This definitely wasn't an accident. An orange cat doesn't look like something you hunt for. Luckily, this kitty is a tough one and came out OK," said Taylor, according to local reports.

Dr. Taylor added that no vital organs were harmed and that 'Cupid' is expected to make a complete recovery.

How could someone do this to a poor defenseless cat? That is just cruel

Hunkydoo is right. We should not wish the arrow shooter dead. Maybe an arrow shot into this person's shoulder and let them run around like that for three days like the cat had to do would be sufficient for me.

I don't find the puns and the attempt at humor in this article very funny--the fact remains that somebody tried to murder a defenseless animal, and no attempt at humor will soften that fact. I dont know why so many people don't take the abuse and injury of animals seriously-- evidence has shown that most serial killers started off killing animals and then graduated to human beings when the thrill of killing animals was gone. Purposefully trying to injure an animal shows sociopathic behavior. So laugh it up--somewhere there is another murderer in the making.

Where I live, feral cats perform a vital service. I live near a river port, and the international black rats that get off the ships and ride the river system on barges get off at the grain elevator and gorge after which their barge is gone,, then they fan out downtown to find somewhere to infest. Feral cats in a neighborhood will keep them from settling there. So I feed the ferals and pray I always have them. These dang rats are as big as opossums. The cats don't kill them, but they sense the predator and stay away.

"They sense the predator and stay away" I got news for you, a rat the size of an opossum is a predator. My guess is that the cats don't kill them because they are ones who are afraid. My family once owned a cat that had to be put down after a normal sized rat got in a fight with it. But I will agree that in certain areas, feral cats can and do help to control other pests. That is why feral animal and pest control issues need to be decided on a local level.

Feral cats kill more song birds than they do rodents. They don't belong in nature.

My hubby and i have 6 cats 2 we got from a shelter 1 we rescued off the street.Only to find out that it's a female and pregnant when we went to get it fixed. We let her have the babies because if he had her fixed they would have to kill the babies we kept 3 after intending on keeping 1.We just fell in love with them so we gave 2 away kept the mom of course. And they have turned into a source of joy and amusement for us.I hope cupid finds a good home if we didnt have the 6 we would try to adopt cupid.

My recently rescued cat was shot with an arrow too, makes me so sad when I look at him and think of what he's been through...but he has a happy home and never has to worry about being hurt again.
