Police say an alleged carjacker thought he'd found an easy target, but he didn't count on Barney Trusewicz.

MyFoxDetroit.com reports that the 81-year-old Korean War veteran and his wife, Constance, were at a gas station in Lincoln Park, Michigan. When Trusewicz went into the station, 39-year-old Christopher Bowens told Constance to get out of the car.

When Trusewicz saw what was going on, he went to his car and started wrestling with Bowens for control of the keys. Bowens allegedly brandished a butcher knife, but the war vet didn't back down. The battle lasted about a minute, according to WXYZ, before Bowens gave up and left, police said.

"Even today when I [thought] about it, I thought, 'Oh my God, I could have been dead or he could have been dead,'" Constance Trusewicz told MyFoxDetroit.

But Constance's husband isn't the only senior who's successfully kept would-be robbers from stealing their wheels.

Just last month, WISN reported on a 75-year-old man who fought off carjackers in Kenosha, Wis.
