James Lipton Reveals He Is Live Blogging Coverage Of The Oscars On AOL.com (Video)

First Posted: 02/20/13 EST Updated: 02/20/13 EST

We at AOL.com are excited and honored to announce that the famed host of 'Inside the Actors Studio' James Lipton will be anchoring our live blog coverage of The Oscars. Watch the video above as James makes the exclusive announcement about the event in his own words.

The live blog begins Sunday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. EST on AOL.com with coverage of the actors and actresses arriving on the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. AOL.com editors will be analyzing wardrobe choices during the lead-up to the big show. Following the red carpet, James Lipton will bring his signature wit and insight and share insider commentary about the Oscar winners as the show unfolds along with interesting anecdotes from years of training and interviewing the country's most accomplished actors on his Bravo TV show.

This is the second celebrity live blogger to anchor AOL.com's coverage of a major entertainment event. On February 10, rock star Bret Michaels hosted AOL.com editors in his Arizona home for coverage of the 55th Annual Grammy Award show.

Please make this feed an OPTION! The last one with Brett Michaels popped up automatically and slowed down all my other compter's functions. I don't want to see every minute.

Just keep it the hell off my feed. I have no interest in the Oscars like I had no interest in the Grammys. I did NOT want a live blog clogging the entire first page of my screen and making it take several minutes before it finished loading. Make it a link to click. I certainly do NOT want to see it.

Doubt there is anyone with better credentials and knowledge to do this in the entire country. Be sure to check out some of his interviews on youtube.Quite informative and interesting

So much negativity in the comments. I think it's sad that people have to put someone like him down, especially when they are no better than he is, they are human just like him.

I think the comments are geared more toward the "system" than James Lipton. He's a pretty decent fellow - and someone I admire. He's hardly the kind of fellow most people would have a bone to pick with . . . . He just isn't that kind of individual . . . .

I love James Lipton. What a great guy, witty, intelligent and charming!

Ya gotta love James Lipton! He's the silent star that has side steped land mines, gotten the best of interviews and is one of the most eloquent commentators on t.v. You can't sell this guy short, he has such control on the situation that corporate big wigs should take a lesson or two on his charisma. Perhaps you would get more productivity out of your people if you were this genuine. Long life to you Mr. Lipton!

I agree. His show "Actor's Studio" is excellent. He has a way of getting people to bare their soul. As far as him coloring his hair or anything else, I am NOT talking about window dressing; I am talking about his energy! The man has more energy and more control of his energy than 90% of the 40 yr. olds out there. He gives me HOPE. As someone is my 50s, I sometimes look around and see people MY age acting old. I don't really mean "ACTING" because they really ARE much older than their age. Well, Lipton is much YOUNGER than his age.
You go Lipton!!

This might almost be worth turning the TV on- just to see what he's commenting on. Or, maybe it will be better if I DON'T see what he's commenting on. He is one of the most intriguing figures. And watching the Actor's Studio is a lesson , every single time, on the craft of acting.

Now, if he would tell us he no longer will color his hair to make him look like he is auditioning for the new Dracula movie, then we will be intrigued!

Aw come on, that's just mean spirited. He's a fabulous man in everyway. Nothing can take that away from him.
