Someone ask him why he sold out to promoting new movies. He had an amazing program at one time opening up people who had something to say and offer about the business of acting. I don't remember the name of the actor, made no impression, and I recall thinking " why is this bum on here " then the next guest was Tom Hanks second appearence, why ? Ernie Borgnine was still with us and still working regular, Howard Keel was in eighties and just finished an indie film. I had lunch with him and his wife and daughter, still sharp as a tack, voice still resonent. So , I stopped watching Lipton the pusher, and waited for Robert Osbourne's Private Screenings sessions.

AOL is going off the deep end with their choice of "pop icons". It's pathetic and they are becoming as bad as HBO.

I like his show and interviews but he really should keep his far wacked out liberalism to himself.

James is cool. The SNL skit (Will Farrell) was very funny

Lead-in Headline reads "James Lipton is taking over AOL." Wow, I thought, that's great, better than that guy with the headscarf -- maybe the level of discourse will have some effect on the caliber of comments.

Alas -- business as usual -- the real story is just on Oscar Night.

In my opinion, the Oscars bar is getting lower. Of course, because the choices are what they are. There are less and less memorable movies made - think of The Deer Hunter, Network, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Forest Gump, The English patient, Out of Africa....just to name a few.

I guess I would ask why we are suddenly getting daily articles on James Lipton on here

My question is "who is James Lipton"? and why would we care?

Why flaunt your cultural ignorance and lack of curiosity instead of using the google miracle that awaits your touch.

robertaruth. hamcallk5co may not know who this nobody is, but your comment is simply rude. it doesn't make you appear any smarter. wise up. the world is a nice place to live. sarcasm is an expression of anger the world could do without. (which is why some of us can't stand Lipton btw.)

Crawl out of your hole and find out. I think if he is going to take over it will be the best for all of us.

I look forward to it.

It seems that today's best actors literally "loose" themselves within the internal world and personality of the character they are playing. To the audience they virtually "inhabit" that character...showing us a personality entirely different from their own. In other words, by some alchemy, they "become" that character.
This seems to me in sharp contrast to the acting that came out of Hollywood during the so-called "Golden Age", when most super stars simply played themselves over and over again. Here, just as prime examples, I'm thinking John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart.
When did an actor's deeper involvement with his assigned part begin and when did it become the new normal? Also, does the school you head up get any credit for this?

What would you do if you had $10,000 a month for the rest of your life and didn't like to travel and didn't have to work? I don't have that, but I just woke up with that thought in my head.

Someone has to take over AOL that will position it in a more middle road slant politically. It has gotten ridiculously to the left. You read these posts and it's like sitting in a third grade classroom during recess.

Well said, I totally agree......and I am a teacher!

So glad to hear you are "taking over AOL" James. This means that readers will actually be able to communicate with someone at AOL. What a novel idea.
