A kitten that was found abused is slowly recovering from his past trauma. When Van, nicknamed after Vincent van Gogh, was first discovered, the tips of his ears were cut and his whiskers were burned off. On top of that, the feline couldn't eat on his own, had ear pain, and had ulcers all across his face and mouth.
A good Samaritan found the little cat in some bushes and took him to an animal hospital right away. Initially, Van was losing a lot of weight, so veterinarians thought they were going to lose him. Miraculously he's recovered, and is now able to breathe normally. He has even eaten on his own for the first time in 12 days.
Van has been living with a Roseville, California woman who fosters many animals. The feline has befriended a pit bull named Fiona, a chihuahua named Molly, and another foster cat named Bernadette. Apparently, Van follows Bernadette around the house and they play together.
Authorities are offering a $1,200 reward for information about the person who abused the kitten.
