According to the Daily Mail, a woman in Beijing, China was seen on top of a billboard, leaving passersby worried that she might take her own life. Policemen quickly arrived at the scene to try and talk her down.
One officer decided to handcuff himself to the woman to make sure she wouldn't jump. He was determined to show that he was serious about saving her -- so he also threw the key over the ledge. "She knew then that if she died, she'd take someone with her and that seemed to bring her back," one policeman said.
The men then used a rope to pull the woman off of the sign and were able to hoist her back onto the adjacent building. "It was a very brave act," said a police spokesman. "We had no idea if she would jump or not."
So far, the woman's name has not been revealed.
